I am an Associate Professor in the School of Business at California Baptist University, in Riverside California. I teach a Family Business Management course, in addition to marketing and entrepreneurship courses.

I was a second generation member of my family's business for 17 years. I presently own a family business with my wife, and employ my two sons.
My doctoral dissertation was on "Understanding the complexities of the family business decision making process: The second generation.
My research interests are in the areas of generational differences, family business decision making, and the role of family councils to improve communication and aid in governance. I am interested in research and publishing, and speaking opportunities.

My new book entitled "Understanding the Family Business" was just published on May 1, 2011. It has a forward by Carmen Bianchi and the series editor is noted entrepreneurship author Scott Shane. Glad my publishing advice is working. The website address for the tools is There are a number of them under the family business section of the website. Even though "rural" is in the title of the website address, all info pertains to all family businesses.
