Last Thursday, September 10th with the support of Mr. Guillermo Salazar Nava and the whole team I’m working within the Venezuelan Industrial Union – CONINDUSTRIA, I achieve one little dream of held a lecture of Mr. Nava about (Family protocols) for a small group of selected family enterprises. Since, I got involved early this year with good practices of corporate governance for small and medium enterprises SMEs and later becoming a member of The Family Firm Institute FFI with the intention to carry on the whole process to obtain the Certificate in Family Business Advisor I start to discover a whole new world of opportunity that were always present, since I’ve been working with the implementation of “good practices” of management principles and the internalization of SMEs. Nevertheless, I also realize that there is a concern about the offer of advice or consulting to this kind of enterprises and the challenge it represent, from my point of view every organization development OD and business’s consultant and lawyer believe is capable of carry on a process of advice a family in business and to less of multidisciplinary framework of FFI is conducted, at least on my experience.
Coming back to the event it’s was a little close one with great results, there were thirteen SMEs (13) taking in account that the invitations were personals, we don’t use any mean of mass advertising for this occasion, some of the founder brought the second generation also and according to the satisfaction surveys for all of the participant the expectative were satisfied. But the figure more important was that the 88% of the participant considered the issue “up to date” and the rest said it was “pertinent”.
Concluding, these figures above mean that in the coming years we are going to witness and increasing demands and offer of services of consulting for family firm and our institutions, professional and individual contribution is to foster the professionalization of the field for the benefits of the family enterprises, the country and the good sound of the professional that are taking this seriously, that is a very long road to ride and still there is too much to do.
